Welcome to the Center for Responsible Environmental Strategies

Center for Responsible Environmental Strategies (CRES) is an Austin, Texas-based environmental policy think tank. CRES was founded in 2000 as a non-profit, tax-exempt, educational organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Contributions are received from foundations, corporations and individuals, as well as state and federal sources as appropriate.

CRES seeks to assess the current state of science on environmental issues and identify critical gaps. We endeavor to suggest policy implications of the findings and promote inter-disciplinary scientific-based research studies on policy issues by identifying and indexing a body of scientific work relevant to environmental policy issues in Texas. CRES disseminates scientific-based reports, monographs and policy positions. We also broadcast conferences and forums via the Internet. CRES generates awareness campaigns to educate the public and decision makers.
